One-off services

Pay as you go

Just need something done once?

Self Assessment: Simple

One income source, clean records, straightforward expenses. Prepared and filed with HMRC.

Assumes your records are complete and organised when you send them. If they need tidying first, that's priced as Catch-Up Bookkeeping. If Making Tax Digital applies to you (gross income over £50,000), a one-off return is no longer the right tool: MTD means four quarterly updates plus a final declaration each year, which is what the monthly packages are built for.

£195 one-off

Self Assessment: Complex

Multiple income sources, rental income, dividends, or capital gains (up to 2 disposals included, then £40 per additional disposal). Prepared and filed with HMRC.

Assumes your records are complete and organised when you send them. If they need tidying first, that's priced as Catch-Up Bookkeeping. HMRC requires a separate calculation for every disposal, so each one is priced individually beyond the first two. Share pools needing reconstruction, crypto trading, and property sales are quoted separately; a UK residential property sale also needs its own 60-day CGT return, quoted upfront. If Making Tax Digital applies to you (gross self-employment plus property income over £50,000), a one-off return is no longer the right tool: MTD means four quarterly updates plus a final declaration each year, which is what the monthly packages are built for.

£295 one-off

Records behind or in disarray? I'll sort, categorise and reconcile before any return is filed.

£30 to £50 per month of records, fixed quote after review

The box of receipts

Arrived with a pile of paperwork?

It's the most common situation I see, and it's completely fixable. If your records are a mess, behind, or just stuffed in a carrier bag, I won't turn you away or charge you a mystery fee. I'll review what you've got and give you a clear, fixed quote before any work starts.

There's no penalty for arriving disorganised. But I will be honest with you about what's involved and what it'll cost. Then it's your call. Read the full no-judgement rundown.

Switching accountants

Already have an accountant? Moving is easier than you think

If you already have an accountant and it isn't working, switching is a standard, well-trodden professional process, and I do nearly all of it. You won't need an awkward break-up conversation, and nothing gets lost in the middle.

1
You decide to move That is the only part you do. You don't even need to tell your current accountant yourself if you'd rather not.
2
I request the handover I write to your current practice for professional clearance and your records. This happens between practices all the time; nobody takes it personally.
3
You carry on as normal I pick up where they left off, flag anything missing, and confirm your fixed fee before any work starts.

Getting started

What to have ready when you get in touch

Business bank statements

Digital downloads are fine. The more complete, the better, even if you've missed a few months.

Receipts & invoices

Photos on your phone, PDFs, paper, whatever you have. We'll work with what's there.

Your UTR number

Your Unique Taxpayer Reference from HMRC. If you can't find it, I can help you track it down.

Questions people ask

Before you book, you might be wondering

What software do you use? Do I need to buy anything?

I run the practice on Xero. If you already use QuickBooks, FreeAgent, a spreadsheet or something else, I'll work with what you have rather than making you move. You don't need to buy a subscription to work with me.

There's no client portal. How do I get my paperwork to you?

However suits you: photos on your phone, PDFs, email or paper. When we start working together I'll set up a simple, secure way to send documents and walk you through it once. After that it takes seconds.

Is there a minimum term on the monthly packages?

No tie-in. Monthly packages roll month to month, and if you want to leave, 30 days' notice is all it takes.

I'd be joining partway through the tax year. Do I pay for the months I've missed?

No. Your monthly fee starts when you join. If the earlier months need tidying up, I'll quote that separately as Catch-Up Bookkeeping, at a fixed price, before any work starts.

What happens if HMRC opens an enquiry into a return you filed?

I handle the correspondence with HMRC and keep you informed in plain English. If it turns into substantial extra work beyond the original job, I'll explain why and agree a fixed cost with you before doing anything.

How quickly will my work be done?

You'll get a delivery date alongside your fixed quote. If anything changes it, you'll hear it from me straight away, not at the deadline.

Making Tax Digital: coming for more sole traders in 2027

From April 2026, sole traders earning over £50,000 are already required to file quarterly with HMRC under MTD for Income Tax. The threshold drops to £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in 2028, meaning many more sole traders will be affected. All monthly packages from Ding Accounting are MTD-compatible, with digital records kept in Xero. For that reason, clients within MTD are looked after on a monthly package rather than a one-off return, so every quarterly deadline is handled as routine. If you're unsure whether this affects you, check in 30 seconds with the MTD checker, or ask me on your free call.
